This is a special edition of The Uncommon Geek podcast as it follows a different trend from the previous episodes.

In this episode, I interview my good friend Phillip Barnes, though I call him by his handle “DK.” He is the CEO of the Demons of EVE corporation in the mmo EVE Online. I have always been curious to know more about what goes into running a successful EVE corp. and to generally find out more about DK’s gaming experiences.

From the amount of dedication to the mindset required to do what needs to be done, we dive behind the curtain and open up the box of one of the player backbones of one of the worlds largest, and most unforgiving MMO EVE Online… Where the universe can be yours!

Brief primer of terms:

EVE Online: The game being discussed.

Corporation: Can be player owned or NPC owned. Like-minded players who have come together to team up to make isk (in game money) or to produce in game goods and services to provide to other players in game.

NPC: Non-playable Character. Controlled by the game itself.

NPC Corp.: Non-Playable Character corporation owned by in game characters.

PVP: Player versus Player actions where two physical players fight each other for fun, sport or other reasons.

WarDec: Short for War Decleration. In game corporations and alliances can declair war on each other for whatever reason.

Alliance: Several corporations allied together under one flag.

Loyalty Points: Points earned from doing missions for NPC Corporations.

LP Store: The NPC corporation specific store where you can turn in Loyalty Points for various goods specific to that store.
