The day was August 16, 2003. Everyone survived the Y2K scare and gas prices were at the ungodly price of $1.45 a gallon (yeah. I miss that too). PC games were making a comeback with advancements in graphics technology, but one game, just like its predecessor 21 years earlier, was more advance than others in its field.

But this time, being advanced worked against its favor.

The year was 1982. The video arcade was at its prime. Hundreds of geeks flocked to them daily. Some of them were happy to stand, or sometimes sit in front of the joystick for hours experiencing the game from our side of the screen.

But a select few of them wanted more from the game. They wanted to LIVE the game.

On July 9th of that year, gamers got to see what their dream would look like if it became a reality for 96 minutes. (more…)
