Today we bring you our interview with THE MAN himself, Darryl Banks!
Our BossMonkey sits down with Darryl at the 2016 Gem City Comic Con to talk about how Mr. Banks got into drawing comic books, and some of the inspiration behind his most famous creation, the Green Lantern Kyle Rayner (Troy’s favorite Green Lantern)!
“At first, I was extremely nervous and shy!” Troy says about the interview. “But after we got started, and Darryl was telling me about how he fanboy’s out over meeting his favorite artists, it helped me realize that he was a fan just like me. Only he created Kyle Rayner.”
We must also apologize about the audio quality of this episode. Shortly after the interview started recording, one of the mics on our Tascam went out. We hope that does not take anything away from the enjoyment of this awesome interview!
This has become like looking into a time capsule to the past. Reading how certain words are phrased and seeing certain things drawn into the background has brought back memories of old! Especially the advertisements! But, that is not what I would like to talk about.
What I would like to talk about is 9/11.
More specifically, what I noticed while reading some issues of Green Lantern from pre-9/11 in 2001. (more…)
A small assortment from my Green Lantern Collection.
Last year, I off and on started to passively collect comic books. My collection didn’t pass 15 issues before I sold them all off to help fund my short lived relocation to Washington state. I primarily had odd issues of X-Men, the rarest being Magneto issue 0, an issue with the X-Babies, and some issues of Cable. I had some other titles that I can not recall, but one of my favorites was an issue that I regret selling, mainly because it was a gift from a good friend. It was Green Lantern/Silver Surfer: Unholy Alliance! And that memory has sparked me to do something that I was kicking around for a long while, but haven’t found the drive to do until just a few months ago…
